Eybond WiFi datalogger: what it is and how to monitor it
Many rooftop inverters come with a small stick plugged into a port on the side or bottom. On a large share of systems that stick is an Eybond datalogger. It reads the inverter every few minutes and uploads the readings to ShineMonitor, the cloud behind the SmartClient app.
How to recognise one
- A plug-in stick, WiFi or 4G, attached to the inverter
- A label with a QR code and a PN (serial) number
- Usually four lights: PWR, COM, NET and SRV
- Your installer set you up with SmartClient or shinemonitor.com
Which apps can read it
The data lives in ShineMonitor, so anything that reads ShineMonitor works:
- SmartClient, the official phone app
- shinemonitor.com in a browser
- Helio, a free, open-source dashboard that opens on today's units
Apps for other clouds such as Solarman, ShinePhone or SolisCloud can't read an Eybond stick.
Getting it online
If the stick isn't connected yet, or you changed routers, follow Connect the WiFi stick. If data stopped arriving, see ShineMonitor not updating.

Once you can sign in to shinemonitor.com, deploy Helio with the same login. It takes about five minutes, costs nothing and your password stays on your own server. Try the demo first.
Questions
What is an Eybond datalogger?
A small plug-in WiFi or 4G stick that reads your inverter and uploads the data to the ShineMonitor cloud, which the SmartClient app and shinemonitor.com display.
How do I know if I have an Eybond stick?
Look for a stick plugged into the inverter with a QR code and a PN number on its label, usually with lights labelled PWR, COM, NET and SRV. If you use SmartClient or shinemonitor.com, it's almost certainly Eybond.
Can I use Helio with my Eybond stick?
Yes. Helio reads the data your stick already uploads to ShineMonitor, using your own login. No extra hardware.
Free and open source. Deploy your own copy in about five minutes.
