Know exactly what your roof made today

Helio is a free dashboard for rooftop solar. It reads your inverter's own counter, so the number you see is the number on the meter.

  • Open source
MIT licensed. Every line is on GitHub.
  • No database
Nothing about your roof is stored.

One screen. The number you came for.

Most solar apps bury today's units under menus and ads. Helio opens on them, on any phone.

Everything it tracks comes from your own inverter

  • Exact units for today

Read from the inverter's own energy counter, the same figure ShineMonitor reports. Not estimated from a graph.

  • Live power

What the roof makes right now, in kilowatts and as a share of your system, with a clear Generating or Idle status.

  • Any past day

Units, value, peak power and when it hit, producing hours and the full five-minute curve. Tap a day to open it.

  • History that adds up

Thirty days with the average and best day, every month of the year, and a lifetime total from the first switch-on.

  • Your rate, your currency

Units turned into money at the tariff on your bill. Edit it on the dashboard, with a separate export rate.

  • Made for phones

Add it to your home screen. Light and dark themes, nothing to install, nothing to update.

Open by design

You run your own copy, so you can see exactly where everything goes. Here is the whole journey.

How a unit gets from your roof to your phone

Every number in Helio is the inverter's own, so today's total matches ShineMonitor and SmartClient.

  1. 1

    Panels

The inverter turns sunlight into household power and counts every unit.

  2. 2every 5 min

    WiFi stick

The Eybond datalogger on the inverter uploads a reading every five minutes.

  3. 3

    ShineMonitor

The cloud behind the SmartClient app keeps them under your account.

  4. 4

    Helio

Your copy fetches them with your login and lays them out on one screen.

The fine print

Helio is small on purpose. Better you know this before you spend ten minutes on it.

  • Eybond and ShineMonitor only

Solarman, Growatt, SolisCloud, iSolarCloud, FusionSolar and others aren't supported yet.

  • Generation, not consumption

A standard inverter doesn't measure what your home uses, so Helio can't either. Savings show as a range.

  • An unofficial API

Helio uses the same web API as shinemonitor.com. If they change it, Helio needs an update.

  • Five-minute steps

That's how often the stick reports, so short spikes and dips don't show on the curve.

  • One plant, one login

Each deployment shows one plant behind one shared password. No per-person accounts.

  • No battery views or alerts

Hybrid systems show generation only. No CSV export or drop alerts yet.

Questions people ask

Is Helio free?

Yes. Helio is MIT licensed and runs comfortably on Vercel's free plan. A custom domain is optional.

Which solar systems does it work with?

Any inverter with an Eybond WiFi datalogger that reports to ShineMonitor, the cloud behind the SmartClient app. Many inverters sold in India and elsewhere use one. If the SmartClient app or shinemonitor.com shows your plant, Helio will work.

Is the number exact?

Today's and lifetime units come from the inverter's own counters, the same figures ShineMonitor shows. The curve is sampled every five minutes.

Do I need a computer running at home?

No. The WiFi stick uploads to the cloud on its own and Helio runs on Vercel.

Does Helio store my data?

No. There's no database. It asks ShineMonitor on each visit and keeps the answer for at most a minute.

Can I use my own electricity rate and currency?

Yes. Set defaults when you deploy, or tap Edit rates on the dashboard to change them on any device.

Is it an official app?

No. It's an independent open-source project that reads your data with your own ShineMonitor login.
